Cardiff Mardi Gras - Q and A
Cardiff Wales Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Mardi Gras is Wales biggest celebration of diversity and one of the largest LGBT Community Events in the UK.
- What is the date of the event
The main Mardi Gras Event takes place on Saturday September 4th - with a small arts and entertainment festival taking place from 1st - 3rd September.

- What’s happening on the main day - September 4th ?
This builds on the success of past events with 40,000 people expected to attend the site in Cooper Field. There is a variety of attractions on the field including -
- Main stage
- Cabaret Garden
- Dance Arena
- Market Place
- Food Village
- Fairground
- How much is it?
It’s free - but the Mardi Gras Committee do ask for donations from those attending to meet the costs of this event
- Who is performing throughout the different venues on the Mardi Gras site?
The venues showcase a selection of local and national signed and unsigned talent.

- Can we bring alcohol onto the site
No alcohol can be bought onto site - all alcohol must be purchased from our fully licensed bars
- Is the event suitable for Children and Families?
Yes key to the event is the fact that it is open to all - and seeks to break down barriers between different sections of the community
- Is there disabled access
Yes
- Is there parking?
No - patrons must use City Centre car parks
- What are the timings for the event?
Traditionally gates open at 12.30pm and the fun continues at the part till 9pm - after which time the partying moves to the bars and clubs in Cardiff City Centre.
