CARDIFF MARDI GRAS TAKES A YEAR OFF

SAFER WALES CONTINUES TO WORK TO COMBAT HOMOPHOBIA THROUGH IT'S EDUCATION PROGRAMME CONTACT mw@saferwales.com FOR DETAILS OF TRAINING AVAILABLE

Safer Wales and the 2007 voluntary Mardi Gras committee regret to announce there will not be a Mardi Gras in Cardiff this year. Click here for details.

We would like to thank everyone who has sent us messages of support and sorrow at the loss of the event. We have been overwhelmed by the public reaction including groups being set up on Facebook to “Save Cardiff Mardi Gras”. Not everyone who has contacted us has been so kind and we understand their frustration at there not being an event this year.  The Mardi Gras has been organised by a voluntary committee since its inception and making the decision not to hold an event this year was not taken easily having spent months trying to gain support to enable the event to continue.

We thought it would help to provide some answers here to the questions we’re frequently receiving.  Please follow the link to our FAQ section

Cardiff-Wales Lesbian & Gay Mardi Gras is a celebration of the diversity of lesbian and gay life in Wales, our party welcomes all people without judgement or prejudice.

The Mardi Gras team launched it’s 2007 campaign back in March reviving the original idea behind the colours of the rainbow flag designed by Gilbert Baker back in 1978 when he designated each of the six colours a meaning: Red (Life); Orange (Healing); Yellow (Sun); Green (Nature); Blue (Harmony) and Violet (Spirit).
In the final month before the main event Mardi Gras are looking at spirit and what that means. Click here to read the full details.

Red (Life) | Orange (Healing) | Yellow (Sun) | Green (Nature) | Blue (Harmony) | Violet (Spirit)
